The Life I Want

Your own words, given back to you with the softening taken off.

01 · Where you started

The Life I Want

You pressed record, and the very first thing you said was this.

The first sentence So this is about the life that I want. At the core, it's about connection. I want to feel seen and loved. And I want the effort that I put into everything to feel like it's appreciated.

Not the mission. Not the model. Not the change you are here to catalyse. You have a whole other declaration for that one, and it is a formidable thing, and it is not this.

This one is about you. Fifteen minutes of you saying out loud, on your own, with nobody prompting you, what you want your life to actually feel like when you come home from all of it.

Everything on this page is yours. Every quote is a sentence you said. Nothing has been added and nothing has been improved. The only thing done here is that the softening has been taken back off.

02 · The pattern, gently

What You Do With Every Ask

Listen to what happens when you ask for something.

In your first breath you said you want the effort you put into everything to be appreciated. By thirty two seconds you had added: doesn't have to be appreciated in an outward way.

Seconds after that you said you want the energy you give out to be reflected back to you. The next thing on the recording is: in some way, by some people in my life.

You said you want ways to nurture yourself. Then you gave the nurture a job: so that then I can prepare for the next period of activity.

You said you want to let people in to support you. Then you made it easy for them, in advance: they can come in and out at different times for different purposes.

Nobody in that room asked you to make any of it smaller. There was nobody in the room. You did it on your own, quickly, and kindly, the way you do everything.

It is a beautiful reflex and it is quietly costing you the exact thing you are asking for. A want that arrives already discounted is very easy for everyone to agree with, and very easy for everyone to miss.

So this page does not do that. From here your asks are written at the size you first said them, before the second sentence arrived.

03 · Connection

To Be Seen

You said connection is the core. Not a result of the life. The core of it.

You want to be seen. You want to be loved. You want a knowing that people value what you contribute. And you want the giving to come back around.

The ask I want to feel like I also receive things in return and that the energy that I give out is reflected back to me.

Then you said the most honest sentence in the whole recording.

One minute, two seconds I want to feel a deep connection with my children, my sister and my husband. And that's evolving, but not there yet.

You did not pretend that one was finished. You did not skip past it, and you did not soften it either, which is worth noticing given everything else on this page. You said evolving, you said not there yet, and you let it stand.

That is not a failure sitting in the middle of your list. That is the part of your life you are closest to changing, because it is the one you told the truth about out loud.

04 · Being, not doing

Worth Being Alive

There is a run of the recording where your voice changes. You are listing things you want to do just for you. Peace. Joy. Satisfaction. Accomplishment. Relaxation. Comfort. And then this arrives.

Two minutes, one second Things that make me feel like it's worth being alive just to be alive. Not for the sake of doing anything.

And then, in case it was not clear:

Two minutes, thirty three seconds I want to understand what it feels like just to be, not to do. And I want to be around people who understand that too.

That second sentence is an ask, and it is the one most likely to go unheard, because it does not sound like an ask. It sounds like a preference.

It is not a preference. You are saying that being around people who only recognise you while you are producing is expensive, and you would like to be around some people who recognise you when you are not.

You also asked for music. For movement. For physical release. For a rhythm you can ebb and flow with, and for moments to break and disappear from the productivity of work. That is not a list of nice extras. That is a nervous system asking for somewhere to go.

05 · The body

You Called Her Her

This is what you said, word for word.

Four minutes, eighteen seconds I want a life where I understand my body, so I can take care of her the best way possible.

Her. Not it.

You have spent most of your life talking about your body as a capability. Something that has to hold up. Something that has to carry the load. And then in the middle of a recording about your future you called her her, like a person you are responsible for and fond of.

Straight after that, you named the cost of not being at home in her.

Four minutes, thirty two seconds And when I'm not feeling like that in my body, I'm always holding back.

Always. Not sometimes. You told us that when you are not at home in your body you withhold yourself from your own life, and you said it in passing, as an aside, on the way to something else.

Strong and healthy is not vanity and it is not upkeep. You said it is a critical part of being able to take on this new role, and you are right. It is also allowed to be for nothing at all except the pleasure of it.

06 · The place

Sanctuary

You asked for somewhere to go.

Two minutes, thirty three seconds onward I want to create a place of security and safety and nurture for myself and for my family. A place where we can go to relax, to have quality time together, to share memories, to create new memories. A sanctuary. A legacy for our family.

Notice the order inside that first sentence. For myself and for my family. You put yourself first. It is the only moment in the entire recording where you do, and you did it without noticing.

You also asked for work and home to blend, and you were precise about how. Not in competition. Flowing from one into the other. The people in your life there for getting things done and for enjoying each other's company. The same people. Both things at once.

That is not an unrealistic ask. That is a design brief, and it happens to describe the thing you are best in the world at building for other people.

07 · Letting people in

To Be Held

Seven minutes, twenty two seconds I want to be someone who people don't feel at a distance from. Whilst I'm happy to lead and feel strong to do so, I want people to see that I have needs too, and I can be vulnerable too. And I want to let people in, to support me when I need that.

You have spent a long time being the one who holds. You are extremely good at it. It is who you are, and it is also the exact reason people forget to check whether you are being held.

Here is the part worth sitting with. You are the person in every room who notices what someone needs before they have said it. You do it constantly, and you do it without being asked, and you rarely even register that you are doing it. What you described wanting, underneath the words, is for someone to do that for you.

You did not say it that way. You said you want to attract people who can play that role, who match the energy, who can come and go for different purposes. You made even this one low maintenance before anybody had the chance to find it inconvenient.

The undiscounted version is this. You would like to be known well enough that someone reaches for you before you have to ask. And you are allowed to want that, and you are allowed to say it plainly to the people who are already in your life, rather than waiting for the right ones to arrive.

Then, near the end, you said the thing that makes all of it permissible.

Thirteen minutes, fifty nine seconds I need to be okay first. Because if I haven't grounded in to this foundation, then the model will not succeed and I will not endure.

You framed it as a condition of the business. It is one. It is also the first time you have handed yourself a reason to be taken care of, and it is worth knowing that you never needed the reason.

From here the voice changes hands

08 · In your own voice

The Declaration

At fifteen minutes and fifty seven seconds, after legacy and family and community and the planet, the recording ends on four words. Nobody asked you a question. You arrived there on your own.

And mostly for ourselves.

You already gave yourself the permission. So this last part is only your own words, returned at full size, with the second sentences left off. It is written in the first person because it is yours to say, and because there is nobody here to make it smaller for.

I want to be seen. Outwardly. In a way I can feel.

I want the effort I put in to be appreciated, and I want to hear it said out loud.

I want the energy I give out to come back to me. Not in some way, by some people. From the people I love, in the ways that actually reach me.

I want a deep connection with my children, my sister and my husband, and I am allowed to want it out loud while it is still evolving.

I want to be around people who understand what it is to just be.

I want joy that is not preparing me for anything.

I want rest that is not earning its keep.

I want to be at home in my body, and to take care of her because she is mine, not because there is a role to take on.

I want music, and movement, and somewhere for all of it to go.

I want a sanctuary. For myself, and for my family, in that order, because that is the order I said it in.

I want work and home to flow into each other with nothing competing.

I want to use my divine feminine and masculine together, and to know when to let the other one rest.

I want people close enough to see what I need before I say it. And I am allowed to say it anyway.

I want to be held. By name. By the people who are already here.

I expect abundance and reward appropriate to the commitment and the work and the effort I have put into my life until now. I used the word appropriate. I meant it.

I do not have to be empty to have earned any of this.

I am not asking for less than I said.

And all of that will be used to create this legacy and support my family, myself, and my community to be the best versions of ourselves for each other and for the planet.

And mostly for ourselves.
